Submersible Pumps
Submersible pumps are designed to be either partially or fully submerged in the liquid being pumped. There is a large variety of applications in which submersible pumps can be used and a huge range of pumps available. There are single and multi stage pumps, pumps with or without float switches and a variety of installation types. Uses include pumping sewage and waste water, effluent pumping and industrial processes, pressurisation, irrigation, drainage and dewatering. Smaller pumps are used in basements and cellars for flood water removal, in septic tanks or cesspits for pumping the final liquid and in tanks, ditches and sumps. Also used in water features and ponds, filtration systems and water supply, including water abstraction from bore holes and wells. There are pumps specifically for clean water and those for dirty or solid laden water and include macerator or grinder type pumps which cut any solids suspended in the liquid into small pieces allowing them to be pumped effectively. Made from a number of materials including cast iron, stainless steel, plastic and aluminium, pumps can be supplied with single or three phase motors. With a vast selection of impeller styles and sizes there are pumps available for most applications. Manufacturers include Dab, Lowara, Grundfos, Flygt, ABS (Sulzer), KSB, Ebara, Espa and many more.
